Corn is a tasty, healthy, nutritious and fairly affordable product. To have it on the table, there is no need to buy canned corn, there are many ways that will help to store the collected grain or corn on the cob at home. Not all people know that this product can not only be preserved, but also frozen or dried. Compliance with storage technology allows you to save the taste, smell and all the useful substances of the stored product.

Fresh corn storage

In order to preserve the sweetness of this product, it is necessary to clean the ears of grains as quickly as possible and process them for a minimum period in accordance with all the rules. After that, the workpiece will retain its natural aroma and taste for approximately three weeks.

Processing at home is as follows:

• It is necessary to remove dirt from the ears of corn, remove leaves and fibers from them, and then place in a wide pot;

• Take another container, pour water into it and add some crushed ice;

• After that, add salt and lemon juice to each teaspoon of water per liter;

• The solution is mixed and poured on the cobs in a large pan, so it must be kept for 20 minutes;

• Then, directly in the water, grains are removed from the ears, discarded residues are drained, and the treated grains are poured into a colander;

• After all the water drains, the grains are slightly dried and packaged in plastic bags with locks. It is not advisable to fill them too tightly, but note that as little air as possible should remain in the bags;

• The packaged product is refrigerated.

The product stored in this way can be added to various dishes, canned or simply boiled.

How to store young ears of corn

Often, corn cobs are harvested for use in winter. This method allows you to preserve the natural sweetness of the product, but requires more storage space. The technology is chosen taking into account the required shelf life at home:

• Storage in the refrigerator. First, we clean the cobs of integumentary leaves and fibers on a cocoon, after which they are placed in plastic bags. The packaged product is placed in a separate tray in the refrigerator. It is advisable to use corn stored in this way for three days. Heads, of course, will stay fresh longer, but the initial taste will be gone;

• Drying the product. Corn is sorted, cleaned of dirt, remove the fibers and slightly open the integumentary leaves. Prepared ears are placed in a well-ventilated and dry place. You can save space if you braid them;

• Frozen corn. Thus, corn can be stored for up to one and a half years. Before freezing the product, you must first prepare, if you freeze a fresh product, then the result will be rubber grains of indefinite taste.

How to store grains and ears of corn in ice cream

Before freezing the product, you need to decide how it will be frozen. This can be done in separate grains or in the form of ears. This does not affect the technology, but the cobs will give the product a special sweetness and juiciness, and grains are easier to store.

All work is done in this way:

• Cover leaves are removed from the ears and fibers are removed, substandard grains are removed from the product, the tip of the head is cut off;

• Pour hot water into one pan and cold water into the second;

• The cobs are first lowered into heated water, and after a couple of minutes they are lowered into cold water and they can stand for two minutes;

• Such an operation is performed 3-5 times;

• After this, the ears are placed on a thin smooth towel and left until the heads are dry;

• After that, each fruit is wrapped with cling film and placed in a freezer.

Corn cobs frozen in this way must be properly defrosted before cooking. In no case should a frozen product be dipped immediately in hot water, as a result, the grains will become rubbery to the taste.

The storage of individual corn grains by freezing differs from the above method only in the final stage. I take off the grains from the cooled and dried ears, and pack them in plastic bags with locks, then put them in the freezer. It is advisable to shake the container with the product during storage so that the grains do not freeze.

In addition, corn is stored in canned form. There are many recipes with which you can save the corn in its pure form or as a component of the blanks for different dishes. Currently, canned corn is popular in the form of corn cobs, they can be used as food directly with the head of cabbage.
